The first hours of baby’s life captured on film.

The Fresh 48 – newborn hospital photography. It is for families wanting the first hours of their newborns life documented without having the entire labour photographed. Within 48 hours after the birth of your baby, I will come to the hospital (birthing centre or at home) and capture some amazing new moments with your newborn. This is not like a typical newborn session in studio, there will be no posing, no studio lights, just the raw newness of your baby’s life being captured.

How do you schedule this type of session?

We will meet a month before your due date so you can get to know me. We will discuss the details like location, date and family details.

Be sure to contact me when you go into labour, so I can juggle schedules and make sure that I am available to be there within the 48 hours after the birth.

What does the Fresh 48 include?

  • One hour of photography. I will come to the place of birth and spend approximately one hour photographing. You can schedule the first meeting with big brother/ sister or grandparents at this time too. It is a pretty magical moment in itself, and deserves to be captured on more than a cell phone camera.
  • 25-30 edited digital files will be available for download
  • A complimentary 8×10 mounted print
  • An immediate blog post link featuring your images, helping to announce your new family member

Why a Fresh 48 session?

The birth of each of my two sons was a very memorable time. I was filled with this incredible feeling of love, raw emotion and joy. If I could bottle these feelings up and relive them I would.

At the time, I just hoped that my husband’s shaky hands captured some details from that first day in the hospital. If I could go back in time I would have hired a Fresh 48 photographer. Even though I wasn’t looking my best, with no makeup and awful bedhead, that time in the recovery room was special. It offered so much more than just a place to stay but, a fresh beginning and new chapter in our lives.

After becoming an Auntie, I knew I had to photograph this time for my sister. I wanted her to be able to feel these moments over and over again. I know these are some of her favourite photos I’ve taken of her little one because as she said “you can’t get that time back”.

I’ve heard time and time again from moms that they wish they would have had this time documented. It’s a feeling you can relive within photographs that has a depth like no other thing in this world. I’d love to help you have this feeling, so contact me to book in your spot today.
